About Thailand / Re: Best area to stay in Bnagkok
« on: August 20, 2012, 07:56:46 PM »
Sukhumvit and Silom are on the skytrain lines as is the area along Phaya Thai to Jatujak. If you look at hotels on Agoda you can click on the map to see the locations of hotels.

About Thailand / Re: How Much to Tip in Thailand?
« on: March 21, 2012, 12:23:53 AM »
For meals at restaurants, it is customary to tip 10% of of your total bill, if the service has been exceptional, you can tip up to 15%, which would be considered very generous. Many high-end restaurants and hotels add a 10% service charge to the bill automatically, so make sure to check the bill first or ask if service is included, you are not expected to tip at noodle shops or at street food stalls :)

Bell hops, boat men or anyone else who carries things for you should also be tipped. der r no hard and fast rules for this, but 20 baht per bag is sufficient.

Massage therapists, spa technicians nd salon employees should also be tipped 10% or more. In salons or spas where der r multiple people providing services, u should tip each person individually. Hotel spas and salons usually add a 10% service charge so, as in restaurants, ask first.

Most people round up their taxi fare (so, for a 52 baht fare the driver would get 60 baht) and tip additionally for drivers who help with luggage or bags.

hope this will increase your knowledge 8)

General Dentistry / Re: When wearing braces can you eat things like?
« on: March 09, 2012, 10:51:32 PM »
As long as you brush your teeth good every day you won't have yellow teeth. Just stay away from gum, taffy, and mostly candy. But everything else should be fine.

General Dentistry / Re: Mouth ulcer pain, help?

Well if the brace is creating something like a sore i would gargle your mouth with salt and water for a few days and it'll start going away. I had something like that a few weeks ago and i kept using hot salt and water and it was cured .hope it helps

River and Canal Boats / Re: River boat
« on: February 29, 2012, 02:58:10 AM »
One of the most fun and cheapest ways of getting around central Bangkok is by express boat along the Chao Phraya River. The 21km route is served by 65 boats and operates between 6:00 am to 7:30 pm on weekdays and 6:00 am to 6:40 pm on weekends and holidays. Current prices are from 9 baht (Local line for distance within one zone) to 30 baht (for green-yellow flag trip on its entire route from Pakkret to Sathorn), depending on the type of boat and the distance travelled. I took the service a couple of times from the BTS Skytrain station at Saphan Taksin which is near the Sathon pier to Phra Pin Klao Bridge pier in order to get to the Southern Bus Station instead of getting a taxi through the centre of Bangkok. It's also a very scenic trip as you pass by the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, churches, Wichai Prasit Fort and some temples along the way...

Shopping: Want to Buy / Re: Where i can do best shopping in thailand?
« on: February 24, 2012, 07:04:57 PM »
The MBK centre is a huge shopping mall 8vstories high. I went here to buy a Thai sim card but obviously being a shopping mall it is full of clothes shops, restaurants etc etc.

I asked a couple of tuk tuk drivers to take me there and they didnt now where i meant but it is well known amongst Thai's

MBK centre is especially good for electronic good - mobile phones in aprticular and also has good prices on fake designer goods.

The clothes are inexpensive in relation to western prices but i didnt really have a great look
