There is two types of material for inlays and onlays, the first is composite inlays and onlays and the second is porcelain, I prefer porcelain inlays and onlays since it is more durable and it looks better than composite

Its normal, our body takes time to get use to any foreign material. you will start feeling normal in a few day and if the problem persists then it means that the crown is high, then you will need to get it adjusted by your dentist. He will grind the parallel tooth.

Dental Tourism In Thailand / Re: cost comparision
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:51:03 AM »
I noticed that your indication on the costs says that its 50% less. I would like to know 50% less is comparing to which countries ?

Your input will be highly appreciated

Thailand is a leading medical tourism destination due to the two factors that dominate medical care decisions: quality of care & cost..Getting treatment in Thailand is 50-60% lesser than USA and UK inlcuding stay at 3 star hotel. In 2011 2,200,000 Thailand medical tourists received top notch medical / dental care, saved money + enjoyed the exotic vacation.  99% of the same technology / medical equipment / computer diagnostic / imaging equipment / medications / treatments are available in Thailand as to Hospitals in New York, London or Sydney.

Suggest you take a few holidays in Phuket if you want to see what it's like and if you'll fit in. There are a lot of long term expats (a large percentage retirees) in the south of the island. You might want to take a look around that area but really depends what you want. As previous poster mentioned, you cannot really say how a place will be in 10 years. You also cannot guarantee that buying a property anywhere will be a good investment. Having said that, we are doing just that at the end of the year - retiring to Phuket.

Not sure what previous poster was referring to about second story, but every place in the world has its good and bad points - you just have to work out which place is the best for you. Good luck!

When it comes to moving large volumes or covering long distances, it is preferable to let professional movers in Phuket take charge of the removal process.

Here are some moving tips to help you prepare for your move:

Prepare your move 3 months in advance.
You may have to obtain visas, work permits or vaccines, or cancel services which require a notice period. Make a list of all you need to do. Being well-organized will help the move go more smoothly.

Sort through your belongings

Choose which goods you want to bring with you to in Phuket and which goods you want to leave behind, with a friend or in a storage unit. Seek advice: It might be more advantageous to buy goods in Phuket instead of bringing these goods with you.

Choose the right moving company in Phuket

Finding a good moving company is essential to any expatriation project. Independent regulatory bodies like FIDI will help you find reliable moving companies. Internal quality processes, specialized packing materials and a large network will guarantee high standards of quality and service.

Prevent the risk of breakage

Zero risk does not exist. Material damage insurance is highly recommended.

Cosmetic Dentistry / Re: I have missing molars can i get false teeth
« on: March 12, 2012, 07:57:16 PM »
With your molars missing, one's in the lower right and another in upper left, you can use a flipper (interim removable partial denture) without a wire clasp. However, it can be challenging to maintain adequate retention (how tight it stays in place). A properly designed and fitted flipper should not harm the neighboring teeth regardless of whether they are capped or not. Special consideration should be given to neighboring teeth that are diseased or week. If you are worried about appearances, the wire clasp can be located in a hidden area.

The answer to your question about bone loss (thin bone) depends upon whether or not your had socket preservation performed once the tooth was extracted. This is where your dentist places some bone regeneration material into the socket and possibly places some sort of regenerative membrane over that. This will preserve the bone for a good 6 to 12 months. If you did not have socket preservation performed then 80% of the bone loss and remodeling occurs over the first two months. The bone will continue to shrink slowly over the years so the sooner you can get the implant the better. However, a good implant surgeon can perform guided bone regeneration and restore much of the bone loss. Stay away from the bridge!

Make sure you have an excellent general dentist that you are comfortable with and that you can trust.
Let me know how it goes, and good luck!

Phuket / Re: Are there any bars or clubs on nai yang beach?
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:15:58 PM »
You will find in Phuket Town but not in Patong or the tourist beach areas.

There 'used to be' places frequented by lots of Thai people with Thai bands and singers in the 90's but they are long gone.

Not sure though that you would want to go to Phuket Town and head back late.

Places in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Hat Yai etc all have places frequented by lots of Thais and have the Thai rock and pop bands, singers, dancers, whole atmosphere but apart from Phuket Town itself that is all you will have.

General Dentistry / Re: Mouth ulcer pain, help?
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:20:53 PM »
Try gargling with a mixture of salt and vinegar in hot water. Swill it around your mouth for about 30 seconds and spit it out. It will kill any bacteria that hides between the teeth.

Good Luck!

The eight-hour bus from Thailand to Siem Reap is no longer a potholed, spine-adjusting experience. The newly-paved road provides a smooth ride to town.

If you are traveling to Siem Reap from Bangkok, try to avoid the overpriced and theft-prone buses departing from Khao San Road. Make your own way via public bus to the border crossing at Aranyaprathet (Poipet on the Cambodian side) which is only three hours north of Siem Reap.

After walking across the border and clearing immigration, team up with some other travelers for a taxi to Siem Reap. Nearly all traffic will be heading in that direction and there are many cheap options, including buses for only $10.

As with all border crossings, be aware of fast talkers who target tourists and offer "VIP" transportation or expedited visa service.

March, April, and May will bake you with staggering humidity and temperatures well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in Siem Reap. The best time and populer months of November to February offer hot, dry afternoons and cool nights.

Buses / Re: How to go from Chiang mai to Chiang rai by bus?
« on: February 28, 2012, 02:12:47 AM »
There are 2 main bus stations in Chiang Mai: Arcade - the main one east of the river towards the train station which tends to have the large blue air-con buses heading off for more distant destinations, though it also serves as the terminus for all stops in Mae Hong Son Province including Mae Sariang and Pai, and Chang Puak bus station serving all local destinations. I took a VIP bus from the Arcade bus station to Chiang Rai which left at 10.15am, took 3 hours and cost 280 baht. It was a lovely bus with reclining leather seats with leg-rests and miles of legroom and space, a/c and a piece of cake and bottle water thrown in for free. You'll pass by some lovely scenery on the way plus go over some big hills. I arrived in Chiang Rai at 1pm.

Dental crowns can be made from ceramic materials (porcelain), metal (gold), or a combination of both (porcelain fused to metal).

1- All porcelain dental crowns are constructed in a manner where the entire crown is made of all porcelain. These crowns can possess a translucency that makes them the most similar to your natural teeth by being cosmetically pleasing when you smile.

2- All metal crowns, such as gold crowns, can withstand biting and chewing forces well. Gold crowns probably have the greatest potential for lasting the longest because the wear rate is about the same as a person's own tooth enamel.

3- Porcelain fused to metal dental crowns are somewhat of a hybrid between all metal crowns and all porcelain crowns. They have the strength and durability of a metal crown but have the cosmetic appearance of an all porcelain crown.
