Your disc will cost you around 2000B - these are included in the usual Open Water Package but a dive centre may lend you a set if you just wanted to look them over again in the evening.

In office whitening techniques would be the best option so far as teeth whitening is concerned, the results generated would be better and quicker. but make sure that you are having teeth whitening from an expert cosmetic dentist.

You are not suppose to spit in a hard way but you can still spit your saliva gently if you have to, as far as it is hard to swallow and the sore throat, it is most likely it is because of the swelling of the area. if the symptoms worsen then you can have the area checked by your dentist.

Thai For Beginners / Re: THAI FOR BEGINNERS
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:54:58 AM »
Have a memory like a whiteboard.

I'm not all that far along the path to learning Thai, but far enough to know a couple of good ideas (apart from spending a lot of time in bars or in taxis in Bangkok - which is an excellent way to learn).

Ultimately my biggest 'pointer' is to be extremely flexible about what you take onboard.

    * Don't commit to memory anything that you haven't read or heard from at least three sources. And even then, expect to have to amend it again later. If you ask even an extremely well-educated Thai who speaks English nearly fluently a question, don't take their answer for gospel.

    * Always assume that your dictionary is missing a bunch of words; use 2 to 3 dictionaries at least, to be relatively sure, but even then you can't be certain.

    * Remember that words in combination change meaning a lot in Thai. Just as "have to" has nothing to do with "have", so too does Thai have (not 'have to' ) heaps of equivalent phrases. thai2english.com is an excellent resource because it will distinguish phrases for you.

    * As much as possible, try to learn two ways to say everything. When one way fails (and it will...one day), try it again and then try the alternative, and the odds of being understood skyrocket.

    * Give yourself extremely modest goals. "I will be fluent in Thai within 3 years" is folly for any normal human. "I will be able to read a newspaper and understand most of it, write almost anything in simple to intermediate language with very few mistakes, and speak almost fluently within 5 to 8 years" is probably a realistic goal for the most diligent and studious of us...and only if we don't slack off during that time and get to spend a reasonable amount of time in the kingdom.

Cosmetic Dentistry / Re: How long it will take for dental bridges?
« on: March 23, 2012, 08:08:07 PM »
The dental bridge is made up of 2 dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and the bridge pontic as the tooth replacement in between. The cost of each dental crown or bridge pontic mainly depends on the quality of material, the tooth position and the type of dental occlusion bite. The cost of the standard material, including tooth preparation, lab fee and installing of the crown, is THB 9,000 approximately USD290 per tooth. If you prefer the better quality, the cost is THB 13,000-15,000 approximately USD419-484 per tooth.

About porcelain caps, it is normally referred to dental crown, inlay and onlay.

General Dentistry / Re: When wearing braces can you eat things like?
« on: March 09, 2012, 10:42:28 PM »
If you brush well then you shouldn't have a problem with yellowing teeth. Also, those foods sound fine, except not after your braces have been tightened, you want to stick to soft foods simply for the reason that it really hurts to eat.

Cosmetic Dentistry / Re: Wanna try teeth whitening
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:33:58 PM »
Any whitening treatment will cause temporary sensitivity to cold or hot due to the chemicals used for whitening. If you want to continue with whitening treatment try starting off by using it every other day (to decrease the risk of a lot of sensitivity). If you are doing the treatment at home and you have not visited a dentist for a while, you might want to go get checked out by a dentist first. If you have cavities or open enamel the sensitivity will be much worst. :)

Hope this helps.

Cosmetic Dentistry / Re: Dental implant after ten years?
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:24:38 PM »
The science has improved as have the materials and the procedures and in the beginning they roughly said ten years but that is a guide line and many are noe projected to last much longer.
They will not need to be touched at all as long as all is well.

New crowns can be made easily should damage occur.
But they will leave well alone in the mean time.

BTS Skytrain / Re: Cheap, easy, safe, clean
« on: February 24, 2012, 07:27:12 PM »
The BTS is a fairly new but very welcome addition to Bangkok's transport infrastructure. It runs above the roads on huge concrete pillars. There are just 2 lines - known as the Sukhumvit and Silom lines. The network isn't that extensive but additions are being built. It runs from 6am to midnight and fares are from 10 to 40 baht. A one day pass costs 100 baht and 3 day tourist passes are also available.
The trains are air-conditioned (essential for Bangkok) and spotlessly clean with not a hint of graffiti or rubbish inside.

BTS Skytrain / Re: An easy way to zip around Bangkok
« on: February 23, 2012, 08:00:53 PM »
Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Skytrain is the elevated metro rail in Bangkok. The Skytrain has 23 stations along 2 lines. The Sukhumvit line runs north terminating at Mo Chit and east, terminating at On Nut. The Silom line runs along Silom and Sathon, through the Central Business District, terminating at the National Stadium. The lines interchange at Siam station

Single journey tickets are priced based on distance (10 to 40 baht) and are available at ticket machines located in every station. The machines only accept coins and do give change. You may also get exact change at any ticket office located at the station

General Dentistry / Why do teeth need dental crowns?
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:18:18 PM »
*To restore a tooth to its original shape.
    *To strengthen a tooth.
*To improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.

The strengthening capability of dental crowns is related to the fact that they cover over and encase the tooth on which they are placed, thus serving as a splint which binds the tooth together. Dental crowns are a very important means by which a dentist can strengthen a tooth.

In contrast, dental fillings, especially large ones, often have a weakening effect on the teeth in which they are placed. Dental fillings rely on a tooth's remaining structure to hold and support them. Fillings, in general, don't strengthen a tooth and don't protect a tooth from the forces generated by biting and chewing.

General Dentistry / Re: Should I have my crowns replaced?
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:11:20 PM »
What can be achieved will depend on precisely how the porcelain has been layered. There may well be tints in the surface that can be easily polished out but without seeing you it is impossible to comment in detail.

You have clearly expressed your concerns to your dentist - so if he is confident of achieving the result you are looking for, this sounds like the simplest way to lighten the crowns. There are some good porcelain polishing systems available to restore the gloss afterwards.

Cosmetic Dentistry / Re: I have missing molars can i get false teeth
« on: February 17, 2012, 07:37:19 PM »
One of the best ways to replace missing teeth is to consider implants. it's important to have implants placed at the right time after extraction, before the bone in which the implant is placed shrinks too much.

I would express that you are having problems chewing, there is almost always a solution

I hope this helps!
